Akavian Blackthorn

Dark wings blend into the sky.
A heart divided, Seeks solace in a lie.
Black wings drift upon the night. His prey is near,
And will not see light.
It's all a cycle, ever turning.
Blue eyes flare, The Rage is Burning.
A sudden gasp, a scream, Then silence.
Another victim meets DeathDream.
The final hour comes to us all
His soul's at war And takes the fall.

Marital Status:
Single at Caliginous and Odyssey; somewhere between there and current timelines was married to Task Diamondwood for almost 2000 years; bonds to Agaru’Loki the crimson believed to indwell a skin walker, An’Thaya D‘Riel; then later, marries An’Thaya.
Children:
Four (Yarwin of the Shai'ay, by Aeryn Gaff; Chari by Lorelei and Mira by Task Diamondwood, his first wife; later, Cal‘Lanth by Thaya.)
Appearance:
Callan wears an Illinsaad Renor Sar’da (Amulet of Black Death) at all times (it cannot be removed unless Callan is dead or by force) This amulet is carved from the breast bone of a Silver Dragon and hangs from a DragonSteele chain, which is embedded into the back of his neck It snatches bits of souls of Callan's victims, allowing him to use that victim's form and have access to their personality and memories at will. Therefore, he can appear as any one of his victims, especially useful when needing to eliminate an entire House. More than likely you will find him wearing the form of a Half-Elven boy/man. In boy form Callan appears to be a male child of about 9 human years. This shape was stolen early in Callan's career and he uses it often as it tends to snare the soft-hearted creatures fast. This form is the one he wore when he came to Task Diamondwood's village in at a much later time in his life.
In adult form, he appears to be in his early to mid-thirties, once again, human standards. The two shapes are of the same boy, Callan has simply used a little magic and imagination to age the child appropriately.
Personality:
Callan is half black dragon, half silver. His silver heritage unknown to him and his true personality is hateful and merciless. He is prone to fits of anger, the Rage and is at his most dangerous and destructive when in the Rage. The personality he projects for the outside world to see depends on the form he is wearing and the prey he is stalking. He is beginning to hear the nagging voice of guilt every time he kills and does not understand where it comes from and will at times give in to this encroaching sense of right and wrong. Do not mistake it for a permanent change in character....
Clothing and Personal Articles of Note:
Callan, as well as all Aerdonian dragons, can create false garments from their scale. This is a clever bit of ‘shift-work’ and almost any style of garment or fabric can be duplicated. Generally speaking, however, he prefers true clothing, usually black t-shirts, comfortable fitting well-worn denim jeans (Levi’s 501s being his favorite) and lace-up black hunting boots (a curious bit of clothing to those who have never seen this sort of thing). In the event he is wearing true garments and carrying weapons, which for the most part he is, these items ‘shift‘ with him when his form takes on that of the dragon, they simply vanish. It has been speculated, though not proven that these items are somehow dimensionally shifted on a quantum level…however, there is no proof of this.
In the most recent timelines, Callan wears his wedding band on his right hand, middle finger and wears about his neck on a leather cord a sacred feather given to him by the Sorontur family as a Yule gift. It is kept beneath his shirt and against his skin at all times for one reason…he’s afraid he’ll mess it up.
Weapons and skills:
Callan is proficient in his own type of magic using, however his brand of magic requires touching the object/person to be enspelled. It is not always convenient when in battle and he is not always able to give away his nature by shifting to dragon, therefore Callan has a pair of daggers he wears at his hip and the usual boot knives, two in each boot. He is also a master marksman with a long-bow but prefers the cross bow and usually carries one. Callan has the ability to cast fire, regardless of what form he wears and the manner the flame manifests itself depends on his intentions.
After his soul become melded with An’Thaya’s, Callan began to develop a D’Riel conduit at the core of his soul and his own soul, what remained apart from An’Thaya’s became a reflection of hers. The two, for a visual reference, resemble two galaxies side by side and mingling with one another at one edge, almost in a figure 8/infinity type shape, the stars being memories and events that shaped their lives, the conduits being located in the loops of the 8.
A Note on the conduit:
A D’Riel conduit is a trait EXCLUSIVE to the D’Riel family and had his soul not been fused with An’Thaya’s Callan would NOT have developed one. It functions like a funnel of sorts. It can absorb magical gifts if used on a D’Riel and assimilate that ability into the D‘Riel‘s knowledge for later or immediate use. It can also take energy or magic, funnel it through its vortex and multiply it exponentially before releasing the power, ergo, balefire can, technically, have the force of a nuclear explosion, rather than its usual force. In Callan’s case, he has not been raised knowing what a conduit is, nor what to do with one if he had one. He does not have the ingrained caution An’Thaya or even Y’Roden has when using it, which can and has been catastrophic He is learning…and it’s a destructive, painful process for anyone within miles of the blast zone.
Marks:
In all timelines, Callan bears a circle of black thorns on his right bicep and has the blackthorn crest on his right shoulder blade as a 'bloodmark' to his personal legions, troops he is gradually subverting as his own, rather than his fathers. In later timelines, his wears a triple dragon mark banding his left wrist from an older bloodbond with Melaina and Glory Alcarin. A Black D'Riel dragon is marked on his right wrist, a symbol of the Blackthorn house being blood-allies with the D'Riel house. During the wedding ceremony with An‘Thaya, this same wrist became encircled with ivy with crimson blooms and black thorns. His right bicep had a ring of autumn leaves from his marriage and soul-bond to his now-dead wife, Task, however, the day of his wedding, a horrible truth was made known…Mira had taken Task’s life in a mercy killing and as such, Task visited him one last time through the magic of the Illinsaad. The ring of autumn leaves vanished with her; it was her last request that Callan let go of the single thread of jade left in his soul and love his new wife with undivided soul. On the same bicep, is the dagger and near-black red rose of An'Thaya D'Riel, a mark that appeared shortly after he forced a bond that had began with An’Thaya to be completed in order to save her life. Over his left shoulder is a crimson female dragon, her claws appearing to actually move when the mark is active, tearing his flesh to reveal black scales. This is his mark from Agaru'Loki, his Crimson soulmate and An’Thaya’s alternate form.
In Later Timelines!
Callan is the Black Dragon Emperor of the Diirlathe and has turned to the silver side of his blood, but constantly battles the desires of this darker nature. The half-Elven soul he used so much became his secondary form, his soul and that of the boy blending seamlessly. Nargus is dead, destroyed by Task and Drago Sar'da, the dragon-slaying bow. Mira now wears the Illinsaad that was once Callan's. The advanced bonds and such are mentioned above. He has also developed a fondness for children, most especially toddlers

Hey now, all you sinners
Put your lights on,
put your lights on
Hey now, all you lovers
Put your lights on,
put your lights on.
Hey now, all you killers
Put your lights on
put your lights on
Hey now, all you children
Leave your lights on, you better
leave your lights on.
'Cause there's a monster,
living under my bed
Whispering in my ear
There's an Angel, with her hand on
my head
She says I've got nothing to fear
There's a darkness deep
in my soul
Its still got a purpose to serve
So let your light shine,
into my home
God don't let me loose my nerve
Hey now all you sinners
Put your lights on,
put your lights on
Hey now, all you children
Leave your lights on, you better
leave your lights on.
'Cause there's a monster,
living under my bed
Whispering in my ear
There's an Angel, with her hand on
my head
She says I've go nothing to fear
She says, whoooo-ahhha hey,
la la, you shine like the stars
Whoo-aohaha hey, la la,
You shine like the stars,
then fade away.
